Expert Take
The Premier Volleyball League Open Conference 2026 is the most competitive the league has been since its founding. Creamline Cool Smashers enter as defending champions with Alyssa Valdez, Tots Carlos and Kyla Atienza all returning at full fitness. But Petro Gazz, PLDT and a resurgent Chery Tiggo have the genuine firepower to challenge this season.
Pick: Creamline to win, but not without a fight. The Carlos-Valdez combination is still the best setter-spiker partnership in Philippine volleyball. Their defensive system under coach Sherwin Meneses remains the gold standard. But this is the deepest the competition has been, and every match will be contested.
The Title Contenders
Creamline Cool Smashers — Favourites
Alyssa Valdez is playing with the urgency of a champion in her final years at the top. She hit .412 in the All-Filipino conference and her chemistry with Tots Carlos is the most refined in PVL history. Kyla Atienza's libero work gives Creamline the defensive foundation to win ugly when needed.
Petro Gazz Angels — Main Challengers
Ces Molina's middle blocking leadership and their import slot gives Petro Gazz a different dimension. Their 2022 championship is proof they can peak at the right time. If they find consistency, they are capable of a run.
